Arsenal have been given fresh encouragement that they could succeed with a summer bid for Petr Cech but manager Arsène Wenger is adamant that he is not pursuing a deal for Raheem Sterling.
Cech is expected to ask Chelsea to let him leave at the end of the season and Jose Mourinho confirmed on Friday that, providing a fair valuation was met, he would allow his goalkeeper a say on where he went.
That is likely to interest Wenger, who is assessing whether to bring in a goalkeeper or persist with the competition between Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina.

In the wake of the contract stand-off between Sterling and Liverpool, Mourinho had been asked what he would do if a player went a step further and asked to leave. He made it clear that they would be sold, provided the valuation was met but, having stressed that the selling club must be in full control of the situation, he described Cech as a special case.
